Water Loop Flow Meter Calibration

Our water loop calibration system provides NIST traceable calibration for liquid flow meters across a broad range of pipe sizes and flow velocities. Calibrated against a precision reference standard under controlled temperature and pressure conditions, every meter leaves our facility with documented, traceable accuracy to ±0.1% of reading.

The water loop is ideal for magnetic flow meters, Coriolis meters, vortex meters, and ultrasonic flow meters used in water, wastewater, chemical, and general liquid process applications.

What Is Water Loop Calibration?

Water loop calibration circulates water through a test section at precisely controlled flow rates. The meter under test is installed in-line and its output is compared against a traceable reference standard at multiple flow points. Deviations are characterized, corrected where applicable, and documented in a calibration certificate with full uncertainty analysis.

Calibrating at multiple flow points — from low to high velocity — produces a complete characterization of the meter's performance across its operating range, not just at a single set point.

Why Calibrate on Water?

Water is the international reference fluid for liquid flow calibration. Its well-characterized viscosity, density, and thermal properties at standard conditions make it ideal for producing accurate, repeatable, and internationally recognized calibration results. Every calibration is traceable to NIST standards. A calibration certificate is issued documenting test conditions, flow points tested, as-found readings, correction factors applied, and final expanded uncertainty. Certificates are suitable for ISO audits, custody transfer documentation, and regulatory compliance.
