Coriolis Flow Meters

Coriolis flow meters are highly accurate instruments that directly measure the mass flow rate of a fluid by using the Coriolis effect. Inside the meter, one or more tubes are vibrated at a controlled frequency; as liquid or gas flows through, the momentum of the moving fluid causes the tubes to twist. The amount of twist is directly proportional to the mass flow, while changes in vibration frequency can also be used to determine fluid density. Because they measure mass rather than just volume, Coriolis meters eliminate the need for separate temperature and pressure compensation, making them especially reliable in applications where fluid properties vary. They can handle a wide range of liquids and gases, including slurries and viscous fluids, and are valued for their precision and versatility, though they tend to be more expensive and physically larger than many other flow meter types.
